Duck Pond Adventures

This week for some fun family time, we headed out to the duck ponds. Annie knows all about ducks, but has never seen them up close. We were pretty excited to see how she would respond to them. It was a windy day, so we didn't last long, but it was some CRAZY fun!

Annie thought the ducks were great. She talked to them and did lots of quacking! She also scolded them for not eating her bread.:)

Emily was not overly impressed with the ducks...but she enjoyed getting carried around anyway!

Playing in the gazebo...

She was pretty upset about having to leave. We will definitely go back (soon!). I can't believe how much fun Annie had!

This is what's going on in our neck of the woods.:)

Sleeping Beauty

I have this problem at my house. Seriously, its just MY problem. NOBODY else seems bothered by it. The problem? Emily only wants to sleep in our bed. She will start the night out in her cradle next to us. Next thing I know, I'm in the most awkward of positions trying to accomadate a sleeping husband and a sleeping baby. Guess who's the only one not sleeping? Me.
This is definitely a habit that needs to be broken. ASAP.
Those experts that say co-sleeping is so wonderful...they're just stupid and have clearly never slept with an infant. They moan and groan, wiggle and squirm, punch and kick. Emily has got to be the most restless little sleeper EVER.
Thankfully, she's cute.:)

New Camera

We got this new camera, a Canon Rebel T2.i. I have a college degree, and I am here to tell you...this camera is MUCH smarter than I am. Thankfully, Kris is learning how to use it, and I'm learning how to use PhotoShop.:) I am pretty sure I'm smarter than PhotoShop. We've been snapping lots of pictures of the girls since we got it. These are just a couple (cause you know there's WAY more than two!).
I love how even the simplest pictures are coming out so clear and really show off how beautiful my kids are.:) Biased? Oh no.:)

Emily - 4 Months

Emily had her 4 month appointment this week. Last time (at 2 months) the doctor said she looked like Turk from "Tarzan" (all that hair...). This time, he said she looked like somebody out of "Mulan" because her hair was pulled up into a little ponytail. Granted, her hair is short so the ponytail sticks straight up. But dang it, its cute!
Emily is weighing in now at 14 lbs. 8 oz. (75th percentile) and is 24 in. long (50th percentile). Her eyes haven't settled on a color yet, they have been going between blue and brown. She is starting to not be such a crier, which is AWESOME! She loves to talk and is very social. AND...as of today, she is officially a roller.:)

Utah

Let me just start this post by saying what an AMAZING husband I have. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. He's pretty much a shoe-in for Husband of the Year 2011.
The agreement was that I could go to SLC for my friend's, David & Deb, sealing in the Bountiful temple...but only if I took Miss E with me. The night before I was supposed to leave (plane ticket already purchased, of course), I decided I wasn't going to go. Going with the baby would be NO FUN. She's kind of a high maintenance kid and I'm kind of sleep deprived as it is. I told this to Kris, whose response was, "You should go. Alone." No argument from me!

I headed out of Tucson on Thursday afternoon and got into SLC that night. The big fun was that I didn't tell Dave & Deb that I was coming (Hello fun surprise!), so I stayed with Tristen, which was super fun! Friday we bummed around downtown. My sweet in-laws came from Idaho to see me (I didn't think they would, since I was coming baby-less...I sure felt loved!), and we had lunch at the Lion House. SO YUMMY!

I sure miss downtown SLC. There's just something about it! I really enjoyed getting to walk around Temple Square. The weather was BEAUTIFUL! Thank heavens for that...I would've been a little sad to get stuck inside due to snow.

Friday afternoon/evening, Tristen took me out for dinner and a movie! We saw Red Riding Hood (it was okay...) and then met her roomie, Erin, and went to Mimi's Cafe. It was my first time there. YUMMY muffins! I had a Cobb Salad, but they didn't have tomatoes. It wasn't the same without them, but good nonetheless.

Saturday was the sealing. I felt SO blessed that I could be there. I knew Dave & Deb from the U, and had the fun of watching them date and seeing Deb join the Church. I missed getting a picture with their little boy. It was so special to get to see their little family sealed. The Spirit was so strong and I was so uplifted by the sealer's words.

Me & Deb at the brunch afterward (at her parent's EXQUISITE home in Bountiful...I couldn't believe this house!). It was so lovely to get to see my friends!

Fun trip, but I am so glad to be home with my babies! I sure did miss my girls. The break was much needed, so I'm pretty grateful for that. Thankfully, I caught up on some sleep (I know, right?), so I'm pretty much ready to conquer the world for awhile.:)

Mary's Birthday

For my birthday, we headed out for a fun dinner with some friends at Casa Manana! They even sang to me and I got my free fried ice-cream.:)My birthday gift this year was a trip to SLC -- a kid-free trip! Pictures to come.:)
